Top of my Mountain
No, this is not the same story; it is where I am leaving the “Top of my Mountain.” The journey will be long, maybe not as dangerous as climbing up to the top. While I spent many days and nights up there, I did some exploring. I found this old well beaten down path leading down through the tall Pine trees. Looking up to the heavens, asking God, is this the path for me to take. “Yes” take your time, and enjoy the beautiful things that I put there for you to see. There will be places for you to stop and rest while you journey down this path.
As always, “he was right.” I love the early morning dampness of the fallen pine needles; the air is so fresh it makes just want to stand there an inhale more than your lungs can hold. Was I afraid of the darkness, no! I knew that I was not a lone on this old path. “What was there to be afraid of?” I did not see any signs of Bears being in the area, did not see any snakes or other wild animals hiding behind the tall pine trees. Nor did I see another human being, I was there with God, what more could I ask for?
The journey was long, as I knew it would be. As I said, I enjoy walking in the woods. As a young boy, I played in the woods. I learned how to survive in the woods. What was good to eat, what was good to drink, Water is not always present in the woods, so you must learn where and how to find the liquid that is good for your body. It is there, “you just have to find it.”
As I was walking down this old path, it gave me many hours to think about things, like my life, what it will be like when I reach the end of this old path, who will I be. I know that in my heart I will be a different person. How different, “I do not know” will my family and friends know me? Again, “I do not know” I hope and pray that I will be the man that I want to be, I feel that God will see that I am.
Oh, the things that you can see when you walk through the woods and down an old beaten path. New life springing up all around you, like trees, flowers, poison ivy, yes, you must be on the look out for that vine. I found a large boulder to rest on. Then I could listen to the animals as they were waking up. Beautiful sounds that they make. I spent a couple of hours there on that boulder just watching the squirrels play tag, or hide-n-seek. I caught a glimpse of a momma Deer and her baby of in the distance. You know, as good as it was on the “Top of the Mountain” I think being here in the woods with all God’s creatures and the beauty of the things growing there, here is the place that I would love to be. However, life goes on, there are things that I must do in the real world.
There was a question asked of me before making these journeys, that was this; “Do you have what it takes?”
I can answer with all honesty, “Yes I do”
